Avoid Behavioral Mistakes After Breaking Up With Your Ex

By Joanna Thayer

After a break up it is a possibility things won't be that easy to deal with since it is such a sensitive time. You may not be able to successfully get your ex back since your emotions may be all over the place.

It's important to try not to make the wrong mistakes at this point, although we know everyone makes mistakes in their lives.

Two major mistakes that are sometimes made after a break up: text message overload and drunk calling. They have the potential to be embarrassing and make matters worse. You will more than likely say things that shouldn't be said.

1. Sending too many text messages: in the simple form, it's okay. But when taken to the extreme, you could embarrass yourself terribly.

Even if the calls and texts are done over time and spread out, you could still really mess things up for yourself with your ex. If they are calling or texting you, you shouldn't be calling or texting them. That is unless you want to add to the tension and lessen the chances of getting your ex back.

2. Drunk phone calls: be less concerned with the quantity and more with what you may actually say. This kind of call will happen after drinking and feeling low on yourself.

This will make you look weak and desperate to your ex, but to yourself you are thinking you are doing a good thing by pouring your heart out.

Try to keep from doing either of the above. I know it will be hard, but that person will have your respect the next day and most importantly, you will have your own. If you find yourself picking up or about to hit send on that message or that call, think of the consequences and put the phone back down. Don't kill yourself and your dignity from call or text overload.
