Unsafe Effects Of Excessive Exposure To The Sun

By Meryl Grant

A suntan occurs when we let our skin have exposure to sun rays. This will in turn color it to a darker shade due to the skin cells process of receiving coloring pigments, melanin. The melanin comes about as the body seeks its own natural cover from direct and strong sunrays.

Suntans have many benefits, some including to look sexier or prettier while some do it for health benefits. Suntans can improve the health of the skin. Americans get about 22 million suntans every year.

The mechanism behind a suntan is that once the sunrays directly strike your skin, they damage the dead cells on the skin. This if prolonged can end up causing you skin disorders or melanoma due to over exposure. Do not take too long in one session.

Your eyes too can suffer if you do not wear the correct sunglasses. For you to escape these troubles, you should check out what is in store. Find out the ones that can let you have a suntan while protecting you from damage.

Take your steps carefully before you begin tanning. There are points regarding the characteristics of ultraviolet rays that you should consider before starting your tanning. Sunburns can make your skin look ugly and develop cancer.

Ultraviolet rays exist in two versions. There are UVA and UVB. Generally, ultraviolet rays can cause you fungal skin disorders and some dermatitis.

The worst time to spread yourself out for some skin tanning is between 12 and 3pm. At this time, you will fry your skin if you do not have a t-shirt or a hat on. Remember that the sunrays are strong at that time.

Tanning needs to be done considerately under controlled timing. A good session should be as short as 20 minutes but can be repeated over a number of days. That will give better results than a one off session of multiple hours.
