There Is A Huge Variety Of Boston Attractions To See.

If you think of Boston it is likely two things will spring to mind; Cheers and the Boston Tea Party. These two things usefully sum up a lot of Boston attractions. The city has an extremely rich history, a modern thriving nightlife and is a magnet for television shows. There are other things to be enjoyed too such as the beautiful countryside of New England, a thriving arts scene and some top class restaurants. Boston is a fairly compact city so you can get around easily and pack a lot of activities into a visit.

One of the easiest ways to get to grips with the city is to start with a tour. There are many available and you can either go for a general sightseeing tour or something themed around history, television shows or the arts for example. There are also boat tours around the bay to visit the islands and see the city skyline. Some companies also offer custom tours and will cater to your interests.

As the city has a long history it is no surprise that it is packed with museums and historical sites. For some local history you could try the Commonwealth Museum which is full of local artifacts and changing exhibitions. There is also the Boston National Historical Park where you can learn all about the revolution. The Freedom Trail is a two mile walking trail taking in sites of importance in the revolution. Everyone knows the story of the Boston Tea Party it is so hugely important in the history of the United States. You can visit one of the ships which has been restored and walk on the decks where the events took place. The Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum is a popular attraction as the story is still inspiring people today.

If you like some lively nightlife then you will have plenty of options, starting with the place which inspired Cheers. Formerly called the Bull and Finch Pub in Beacon Hill it has live entertainment, memorabilia and food. There are lots of restaurant options from homely to fine dining. There are some great chefs creating innovative foods and new takes on old classics such as the recent craze of re-inventing nachos. If you love to dance then you can do so all night long to some top DJs.

Boston has some good transport systems so that you can get around with ease. The underground railway is called the T and covers the main areas. You should not have a problem finding accommodation to suit your tastes. All the large hotel groups have places around the city but if you are looking for something more individual head to the South End area where there are lots of guest houses. When planning your trip you should bear in mind that the city is packed around graduation times as there are lots of colleges.

Boston is also considered the gateway to New England so you could incorporate some time in the Landscaping into your trip. The autumn is the most popular time to visit the region for the magnificent spectacle of the changing of the leaves.
