A Few Great Minneapolis Date Ideas

By J. Sully

If that special day is right around the corner, like tomorrow for instance, and you haven't put a lot of thought into it, then your just like me. It's the night before your anniversary and your wife is expecting something special so you turn to the internet for a hopefully "quick and easy" solution to your dilemma. I've been there before, that's what made me decide to put this thing together. I'll go over three different date scenarios that have worked out for me in the past. I hope this guide will give you a couple of good Minneapolis date ideas so the old lady thinks you at least put a little bit of thought into the day.

The Centennial Lakes Park in Edina will serve as a great way to start your date. The park is 24 acres with a beautiful walking path as well as ponds and lawn bowling. A nice walk through the park to the pond where you can take you date on a paddle boat ride which will give you a good amount of time to talk and spend time with each other, while doing a fun activity. Once you've paddled through the ponds, take a break and eat at Cucumbers restaurant which is located directly next door to the park. Cucumbers offers great food and a nice atmosphere. When you're done eating you can catch a movie at nearby Edina Cinema on W 50th St.

Another great date idea would be to start out at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, but if it's raining or snowing, you just might want to keep it in doors and head to the Walker Art Center just down the block. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the Walker Art Center are always intriguing experiences that stimulate great conversation over a nice dinner when you're done. To eat, we travel south down Hennepin Ave into the heart of Uptown. Uptown is filled with variety and there are endless possibilities when it comes to eating, a couple places that come to mind are, Amazing Thailand, Chino Latino or Delights Of India. If you're still up for going out after eating, Uptown is also home to many Bars, Clubs and also live comedy venues.

The third scenario would be to take your date out to one of the premier restaurants of Downtown Minneapolis. Minneapolis is home to many popular restaurants rated among the best in the country, and then to the theatre for a live show. I would recommend Ichiban if you are a fan of sushi, otherwise another recommendation would be Ruth's Chris Steakhouse which offers quite possibly some of the best steak available. When your bellies are full you can sit down at one of the four Hennepin Theatre Trust stages. The Hennepin Theatre Trust is known world wide and plays show quite frequently so you will be sure to find a show time and date to work around your schedule. Enjoy the show!

Now that you saw my Minneapolis date ideas, give one a try and see how it works out. If nothing else at least hopefully you were inspired by the ideas to think of something of your own. Whether you like the ideas or not you gained a little more knowledge and were made aware of a couple different options. Just make sure when you take your wife on that anniversary date make sure you guys enjoy your selves. Good luck! And Have a happy anniversary!
